Law offices of Franklin & Stites new building in downtown orlandoA study was performed to determine what could be done to increase the energy efficiency  of the building and reduce the electric cost.

The air conditioning unit

The first and most obvious issue was the roof air conditioning unit. It was over 20 years old, rusting, and not cooling the building like it should.  The unit was replaced by a top of the line 2 ton that is rated very highly on the efficiency scale. The ductwork and thermostat was also replaced.

Better wall insulation

Brick was brought in to replace the old drywall. Not only did it serve a a fantastic insulator but is also visually appealing. The brick was recycled from an old building that was torn down in Chicago.

Water system

The toilets were replaced with ones that use minimal water when flushed. The sinks were retrofitted with water saving faucets.
